Charouz Racing System ready to face the last challenge of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season at Abu Dhabi

I was quite happy that we had a two month break because it was the perfect time for my hand to heal after Monza. I’ve been doing some work at the simulator and some karting, the hand is feeling good.

Charouz Racing System is about to hit the track for one last time this year, ready for the last round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season at Abu Dhabi. At the Yas Marina Circuit, the Czech team will try anything in its hands to get Tatiana Calderón in the points and Enzo Fittipaldi in the battle for the top positions in both races.

For the Brazilian, the target is set on the third spot in the Driver Standings, a goal that is currently only 9 points away as he approaches the last two occasions to score a big result. Enzo and the team will aim at the first step of the podium, something they came so close to conquer several times in the past rounds during this very positive 2022 campaign.

As usual for Formula 2 (except for the covid afflicted 2020 season), the track located on Yas Island is gonna be the theater of the season finale. A circuit where Charouz Racing System has always scored good results in the past, also with a victory in the 2018 Sprint Race. The new and faster layout, used for the first time in 2021, will provide good chances of overtaking and a lot of action, something to try take advantage of also with the help of a good strategy.

The schedule for this last weekend of racing of the season will as usual feature the Free Practice and Qualifying sessions on Friday, the Sprint Race on Saturday afternoon and the Feature Race on Sunday afternoon.

Antonín Charouz, team owner
“It’s the last shot for this year and I’m sure we all wanna end this already positive season in the best possible way. Enzo is really close to P3 in the Championship and that would definitely be a great result for the team, but I’d also be happy to see Tatiana scoring some points. 110% of our focus and energies are set on these two targets, we worked very hard since the last race and we can’t wait to start the engines and give our best to make it a memorable one”.

Enzo Fittipaldi
“I’m very, very excited for the last round of the Formula 2 season at Abu Dhabi. It’s been an amazing season with Charouz Racing System, we’re currently fighting for the top 3 in the Championship and I’m only 9 points from Sargeant whose in third, so the goal is very clear: qualify in the top 10 and score points in both races. It will be my first time driving at this track, but I learn very fast so I really can’t wait for this weekend. I already miss everyone at Charouz, it’s been more than two months since the last race at Monza and so I’m really looking forward to see the guys and give my best together with them to finish on a high”.

Tatiana Calderón
“I’m very much looking forward to get back in the car, it’s been a long wait but I think that, for the first time in my career, I was quite happy that we had a two months break because it was the perfect time for my hand to heal after Monza. I’ve been doing some work at the simulator and some karting and now the hand is feeling good. It’s also been a while since the last time I’ve been to Abu Dhabi and it will be my first time racing with the new layout, it looks very interesting from the sim. I’m confident we can do a good job, the tyre compound we’ll be using it’s one that I’ve been comfortable with since Spa and with the heat Abu Dhabi always bring I think it will be beneficial for me. Hopefully we can score some points there, that’s gonna be the aim. I really want to finish the season on a high, also as a way to thank the team, Karol G and all my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to be back in Formula 2”.
