Charouz Racing System approaches the first round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season with great confidence, having successfully completed the three days-long pre-season testing last week at the Bahrain International Circuit. Drivers Enzo Fittipaldi and Cem Bölükbasi showed good potential in both qualifying and racing simulations and they will be aiming to maximize all the work done with the team and start the season with a good result.

The Brazilian, now fully recovered, will be determined to pick up where he left last year in Jeddah, where he scored his first points in what was only his third round as a Formula 2 driver. The Turkish rookie has got up to speed in no time during the test sessions and has every intention to keep up with his impressive learning curve.

The Czech team was able to score a podium and a point finish in Sakhir last year. The layout of the track features a very long main straight and three DRS zones, so there will be good chances of overtaking during the races and a good pace would mean having a good shot at the top positions.

The schedule of the race weekend has been subject of a big change, going back to the 2 races format after experimenting the 3 races one in 2021. While Friday schedule remains the same, with one free practice session followed by the qualifying session, lights will go green on Saturday evening at 19:40 for the Sprint Race and on Sunday at 13:40 (local time) for the Feature Race.

Antonín Charouz, team owner: “The race weekend ahead is an important one for sure. It’s gonna be a long season so starting off in the best possible way can give you momentum for the next races and motivate the drivers and all the people in the team even more. The three days of testing has been really positive for us and both of our drivers are ready to make the most out of this first round. The track allows overtaking maneuvers and most likely there will be a lot of track action, I’m sure they will have their chance to get a good result”.

It’s been such a long winter break but we’re finally back racing. After the test sessions of the last week I’m really confident with the performance level and also with my physical conditions. I’m really excited for this first weekend of the year here in Bahrain and I’m really looking forward to start this season, I can’t wait”.

Finally it’s time for the first race of the season. I’ve been waiting a long time for this and, if you think that 4 or 5 years ago I was still an Esports pro racer, the fact that I’ve been able to get an opportunity in this championship so quickly it’s still unbelievable, I can’t wait for it to start! Ready and well prepared, looking very much forward to it”.

After the test sessions of the last week I’m really confident with the performance level and also with my physical conditions.
