With the running of a collective test held by the series this week, Lotus kicked-off the 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5 season at Alcaniz. The team fielded their driver pairing consisting of René Binder and Pietro Fittipaldi, who starred with prominent performances.

Brazilian racer Fittipaldi, who is the grandson of former Formula 1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi, even cruised to the top of the overall charts on day 1 by setting the fastest lap of the PM segment. The Lotus team then focused on the technical aspects in an effort to fine-tune the set-up of the cars. They were joined in the pits by Escuderia Telmex responsible Fernando Plata.

Bob Vavrik – Team Manager
“Our first test of the season at Motorland Aragon was extremely positive. We assessed many technical aspects and, beyond that, the synergy between Pietro Fittipaldi and the team’s engineers and mechanics. The pace throughout the two days was really good and both Fittipaldi and Binder set remarkable laptimes. We also performed start and pit-stop simulations which will be key for the season ahead. Now we will focus on the upcoming test scheduled for next week at Jerez”.
